Breaking

One of the important elements of Taekwon-Do training is breaking.
Breaking appears as part of grading criteria, demonstration item and a sport discipline. Due to physical development of the bone’ structure of young people breaking in our club is not required from students younger than 16 years old and lower than green belt.


Three factors are necessary to break the board:
• self-confidence
• correct technique
• power

There are two kinds of breaking:
Power breaking demonstrates technical efficiency, precision, aim and power. It involves usually bigger amount of boards.

Only a single blow is sufficient for victory Special techniques in breaking combine athletic performance with perfect execution of techniques. These techniques include flying techniques and are usually very spectacular. Height and length of movements are emphasized.

If available pine trees’ wood should be used for breaking. Thickness of the boards’ dependent of the purpose and age of the practitioners is between 1,5 -2,5 cm.
Lately re-breakable, plastic boards have been  used.

It is very important to practice breaking without hurting oneself. Therefore, thorough preparation is essential and it can be done only under striked instructor's supervision.
